Bantamweights – Light But Lethal!

Thought it would be quite apt for me to take a look at the bantamweight division with it being my old stomping ground!

The bantamweight division is littered with talent and elite level fighters such as John Riel Casimero, Luis Nery, Zolani Tete, Nordine Oubaali, Michell Banquez and Nonito Donaire amongst others but for me the number 1 in the division, we can look no further than a man i would consider possibly P4P number 1, the winner of the World Boxing Super Series. No other than Naoya Inoue. His power is something that isn’t seen very often in the lighter divisions and he is never in a boring fight.

I remember once being asked to spar him by Kieran Farrell as a joke. I was more than up for the experience and a scrap. Looking back, probably for the best it was a joke!!

If we were to take a look at the British hopefuls in the bantamweight division that would be hopeful of taking it to the next level and challenging for European and World titles. We would have to look at the Former World title holder Paul Butler and current British Champion Lee Mcgregor, who is up and coming in the division, and definitely one to watch for the future. For me these 2 me. are Britain’s best hope at a European and world titles in the near future.

Finally lets take a look at my Bantamweight ONE TO WATCH! Sunny Edwards

You may think why Sunny Edwards? He is a Super-Flyweight? Well Sunny is only a young man at 24, struggling to find people willing to fight him in his own division after becoming British champion already. I believe he will step up in weight as he already has from flyweight and cause many a problem in the bantamweight division with his slick skills. Mark my words, future Bantamweight world champion…

There are so many names to mention and exciting fights to be made in the bantamweight division that i couldn’t begin to reel through them all, so let me leave one World level fight with you that i would love to see:

Paul Butler Vs Nordine Oubaali

Who wins? And how?
