The Ultimate Boxxer - Super Middleweight preview

Ultimate Boxxer returns this week with a super middleweight tournament, the short format 3x3 minute rounds in the semifinals before a 5x3 minute rounds final, promises explosive performances & a bucket full of excitement!

With the show scheduled to be dual broadcast on both BT Sport & ITV4 from 8pm, it offers the boxers involved ample exposure during what otherwise has been a tough year for professional boxers as well as the world as we know it.

With a mix of experience, youth, power & boxing ability the centre piece super middleweight tournament has all the components to deliver a great night of boxing & is supplemented by a stellar undercard featuring some Ultimate Boxxer alumni.

Ultimate Boxxer

Ben Ridings

22 year old Ben Ridings enters the tournament with a 3-0 record, working alongside trainer, promoter & manager Kieran Farrell, Ridings has took on the underdog mantle & is relishing the exposure afforded to him.

Ridings has sparred super middleweight world champion Callum Smith multiple times in preparation for Tuesday night. Ridings, out of the ring for 18 months, is an unknown quantity. Is Tuesday prime time for him to explode on to the domestic scene?

Michael McGoldrick

6-0 McGolderick is a late replacement in the tournament & at 35 years of age he is the elder statesmen of the 4 combatants, will his experience be a telling factor?

During the current pandemic its unlikely opportunity will coming knocking twice & McGoldrick will be eager to grasp this one with both hands.

Harry Woods

Liverpudlian Harry Woods (4-0) is the other late replacement & he too will be keen to perform on Tuesday night.

The most recent of Woods’ 4 victories came back in February against the teak tough Kevin McCauley & this tournament represents a step up in class for Woods.

Zak Chelli

Chelli is arguably the most high profile of the 4, most recently boxing to a contentious draw with Jack Cullen on the Matchroom Fight Camp PPV card in August.

The sole defeat on the record came against Kody Davies back in 2019, Chelli will no doubt be chomping at the bit to return to winning ways & Tuesday affords him with that very opportunity.

The Undercard

Michael Lawal (12-0) was the victor of Ultimate Boxxer 4 The Cruiserweights, with a real rags to riches story out of the ring, the imposing Londoner will be looking to line up a British title shot with a victory here. The London based Albanian Florent ’TNT’ Marku (6-0) will be looking to extend his unbeaten record though he won’t be back by his usual fervent support given this show takes place inside ‘The Bubble’ of course. Derrick Osaze (10-0) was the winner of Ultimate Boxxer 3 The Middleweights in 2019, he defeated Kieron Conway in the final & a victory here could propel ‘The Punching Preacher’ into title contention.
