The SimBoxx Preview: Arthur v Faraci

As confusion and doubt reigns over boxing on traditional television, Britain’s most old school promoter is treating us to an old school show. This weekend Frank Warren's Queensbury promotions takes a big card to the Albert Hall, looking to showcase some of his marquee talents. This nine fight card will see a variety of different fighters look to become the next big thing on BT Sport.

Lyndon Arthur v Davide Faraci

Fresh off the back of slaying the lion Anthony Yarde, Lyndon is faced with his very own Italian Job as he faces undefeated Lazio resident Davide Faraci. Lyndon enters this fight as the odds on favourite (1/20) as a result of his previous victories as well as his status as the WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion.

Everyone now knows what we can expect from Lyndon in the ring, it’s even been immortalised in verse by Manchester rapper Bugzy Malone; “We don’t need lions in the camp when we’ve got kings, don’t need the right hand when the jab stings”. Lyndon, under the tutelage of trainer Pat Barrett, has become a master of using his left jab to control the distance, the pace and the tempo of the fight. This is as always his best attribute and key to victory.

We know less about this weekend's opponent though. Davide Faraci. At 15-0 he is Italy’s light heavyweight champion and their highest ranked 175lbs fighter. Although several of his opponents have left something to be desired his last two fights have been genuine step ups. He defeated veteran campaigner Vigan Mustafa and undefeated prospect Emre Cukur both on points.

With neither man holding explosive power and both’s best victories coming by way of 12th round decisions expect a slow and measured approach by both men. That said there still exists, in my opinion, a vast gulf in class. I think Arthur’s understanding of the sweet science is incredible and currently up there with the best in this country, therefore I’m expecting a comfortable win for the Moston man.

Zach Parker v Sherzod Khusanov

On the undercard 20-0 Zach Parker will take on 22-2-1 unknown Uzbek Sherzod Khusanov defending his WBO International Super Middleweight Title. The expansively built Parker is riding an impressive run of form that has seen him stop three men in the last three years. Strong, explosive, youthful and good looking, Parker is absolutely poised to exploit Saturday’s audience and become a flagship fighter for Queensbury.

Undercard

One of the hottest prospects in the country Dennis McCann will look to go 10-0 against journeyman Kamil Jaworek. Frank Warren’s favourite super featherweight, 19-0 Archie Sharp stays at a low level taking on Mexico’s Diego Andrade Chavez for a WBO trinket.
