After his first Matchroom UK fight at the Manchester Arena, ‘The Albanian Bear’ Reshat Mati caught up with Ben from Simboxx.
BJ – First of all Reshat, well done on your Fight and what a finish! For those that don’t know you, can you tell them a little about yourself.
RM – So, I’m currently signed with Matchroom and hold a 7-0 record with 5ko’s. I started Martial arts aged 4 with BJJ, MMA, Muay Thai etc and began competing aged 5. In total have 36 championship belts in various disciplines. Aged 10 I began boxing and am a multi time national champion as well as a 2 time NYC Golden Gloves Champion and 2018 national golden gloves champion. Aged 13 I was in a YouTube video that went viral and come 2016, the UFC approached me to appear in their videos. Matchroom approached me in 2018 and I signed with Edidie Hearn.
BJ – You seemed to be really well liked, I know you and your team were sat behind me at Ringside. I think the father and son sat next to me were delighted with you giving them the fight gloves. As well as the bandannas you team passed via the security team.
BJ – The Uk is cool, the people are great.
BJ – As I said before, you had a great win in Manchester. What was it like fighting in the UK?
RM – I was excited and anxious at the same time, but I definitely want to come back!
BJ – You were out 4 times in 2019, are you looking for similar in this year?
RM – God willing and no injuries, I want to be very active and fight at least 6 times.
BJ – 7-0, is the 0 bringing any pressure?
RM – Not at all, I just want to continue on my journey fighting!
BJ – What does 2020 have in-store for you?
RM – I just want to be the best I can be, get a tonne of experience and hopefully be a World Champion one day.
BJ – Finally, One thing I like to ask. Any fight to happen this year, what is it?
RM – Has to be Crawford against Spence! Its a must!
