SimBoxx Talks To Kieron Conway

Kieron Conway talks to Luke of SimBoxx about boxing on Matchroom’s Fight Camp in August & how he’s managed to keep fit during the lockdown period.

One only has to scroll through Kieron Conway’s social media to get a glimpse of some of the high intensity work outs he's undertaken to ensure optimal physical conditiin preparation for the inevitable call to return to boxing.

’Ive worked on a lot’ Conway explained

’I’ve broke myself down & put myself back together’ A very bullish attitude from the Northampton native as he prepares for a bout with Navid Mansouri.

A lot of questions have been asked of boxer’s mindsets in regards to boxing with no fans & very limited team members allowed into venues, this seems to be of little concern for Conway, ‘It‘s huge to be a part of it, it’s going to be a part of history & it’s a pleasure to be on this platform’

2019 was a congested year for Conway, partaking in the short format style Ultimate Boxxer, falling at the last hurdle in the final bout against Derrick Ozaze, a split decision draw against defending British champion Ted Cheeseman was a standout moment before back to back victories closed out the calendar year & with the momentum behind him a return to action at the earliest opportunity is of high interest ‘I’m really keen to get back in the ring, it feels like a really long time (since my last bout) & I’ve been working on mistakes I was making’

Sourcing suitable sparring partners & working with the Covid-19 guidelines has been another obstacle boxers & their teams have had to negate, luckily for Conway this doesn’t seem to have been an issue ‘I’ve got some sparring lined up & I think my training camp is going well‘

The domestic 154lb super welterweight division is stacked with quality boxers, headed by the world title hunting pair of Liam Smith & Kell Brook but the chasing back positioned right behind them is wide open & with rivals Cheeseman, Eggington & Fowler all due to make an appearance during Fight Camp in the grounds of Matchroom HQ, Conway is wary of the need to be victorious ‘Every fight is important to me, even though I’m young & time maybe be on my side I’m not accepting loses‘ in regards of the other combatants Conway was dismissive & more focused on what is directly in front of him ‘I’ll focus on my opponent & myself, everyone else‘s results aren’t of any interest to me’

Fight Camp promises to be an riveting watch & one we have no prior expectations of what to expect, you can find the Kieron Conway v Navid Mansouri on week 3, August 14th.
