Shakur Stevenson Stops Felix Carabello in Sixth

WBO Featherweight champion was back to business Tuesday night, except at a different weight class. Stevenson (14-0 8 KOs), looking to shake off some ring rust--was in total control as he dominated Carabello (13-2-2 9KOs) in their super featherweight bout.

The first round saw the larger man Carabello cutting off the ring in an attempt to stifle the hand speed of quick and agile Stevenson. This worked to no avail as Stevenson countered early and often and had Carabello down in round one. The fight continued in this same manner, Stevenson’s hand speed and timing were too much for Carbello, and he unloaded power shot after power shot to continue staggering the Puerto Rican.

After five rounds of domination, the fight deemed a “tune-up fight” was just that, as Stevenson finally landed a body shot that put down Carabello for good.

Stevenson will look to move back down to featherweight to either defend his title or get his shot at a possible unification fight with IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington.

Elsewhere on the card, 20 year old heavyweight prospect Jared ‘The Real Big Baby’ Anderson improved time 4-0 with 4 KOs with a stoppage victory over the outsized Johnnie Langston in the 3rd round of a scheduled 6 rounder. Anderson is former sparring partner of Tyson Fury & is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Italian heavyweight Guido Vianello breezed past Don Haynesworth, a heavy right hand in the opening round enough to seal the deal & keep Vianello’s unblemished record intact.

Quatavious Cash took home a unanimous technical decision win, the ringside doctor calling a halt to the fight in final round due to a cut suffered by Calvin Metcalf after a competitive bout scheduled for 6.

The opening bout of the evening saw double Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez blast past Yeuri Andujar, knocking his first down twice in the first 60 seconds of the fight, leading to the red to call the fight off, Ramirez is now 3-1 with all 3 wins by KO since losing his pro debut.
