Its not everyday a unified World Champion gets forgotten but that seems to be the case for Julian ‘J-Rock’ Williams (27-1-1).
May 2019 J-Rock beat undefeated WBA (Super) and IBF World Champion Jarrett Hurd (23-1) in an unanimous decision (115-112 115-112 & 116-111) in his own backyard.
The 29 year old this Saturday is about to take on his first defense against Jeison Rosario (19-1-1) which I expect to be a routine defense against the 24 year old in his hometown of Philadelphia PA.
After this a week later Hurd returns for a comeback fight against Francisco Santana (25-7-1) which again we expect him to come through fairly quickly.
Now PBC has all of the major talent at 154 and all of the champions except the WBO which is with Patrick Teixeira and Golden Boy Promotions. We now need to see the big fights so the question is does ‘J-Rock’ go for the rematch with Hurd or do we get the big one and get ‘J-Rock’ V Charlo for the WBA (Super) IBF and WBC. ‘J-Rock’ has expressed to me personally that he wants the Charlo fight and it is the biggest fight out there in the 154 division but Hurd still seems to be the man that deserves a rematch.
I think the PBC will need some big fights and ‘J-Rock’ V Charlo can happen at the end of 2020.
Lets start with ‘J-Rock’ V Rosario this Saturday and Hurd V Santana on 1/25 box live on Boxnation to the UK Public.
