Head vs Heart – Dillian Whyte v Oscar Rivas + Undercard & Manny Pacquaio v Keith Thurman e

A new concept were undertaking at SimBoxx is the introduction of a ‘tipster’ segment where we go through the pick of the odds for the biggest fights, do you follow your head or your heart?

Dave Allen v David Price

Dave Allen is riding a the crest of a wave at the moment, his KO win over Nick Webb just under a year ago followed up with 3 further stoppages, taking his biggest scalp in his last fight, a 3rd round KO against Lucas Browne, he is also looking is his best shape of his career heading into this fight.

There is no doubt in anyones mind about Price’s KO power, he’s possibly one of the biggest punchers in the heavyweight division at the minute but he has a habit of running out of steam and also doesn’t take hits to the chin at all well.

With Price’s punching power, him to get the stoppage is great value but coming into the fight with two stoppage defeats in his last 4 suggest a Dave Allen stoppage, it’s just a shame about the short odds maybe it could be doubled up with another fight to boost the potential winnings.

Head says Price KO 2/1

Heart says Allen KO 4/7

Derek Chisora v Artur Szpilka

‘War’ Chisora is coming into this tough fight after a points win over Senad Gashi but suffered a big KO defeat to Dillian Whyte in the fight previous along with 3 defeats in his previous 10 outtings whilst at 35, he’s not getting any younger.

Szpilka has two wins on the bounce and is 5 years younger than Chisora which could play a big part. His 3 defeats have come against decent opponents, all were undefeated at the time, and is a typically tough Pole.

If Chisora has still got that desire he’s shown plenty of times before in big fights then I can see him winning on points but if his age does finally catch up on him then I can see Szpilka getting the stoppage and at 5/1 its great value for money.

Head says Szpilka KO 5/1

Heart says Chisora points 6/4

Dillian Whyte v Oscar Rivas

Dillian comes into this fight after impressive KO wins over Derek Chisora & Lucas Browne and points wins over Joesph Parker & Robert Helenius across his last 4, as he continues to chase a WBC heavyweight title shot after spending what feels like a lifetime as No.1 contender!!

Oscar Rivas is coming in off the back of a career best performance- a 12th round KO win over Bryant Jennings and is undefeated in 26 with 18 wins by KO but i believe ‘The Body Snatcher’ is a step too far with Whyte’s form coupled with his determination to get his shot at Wilder.

Smart money suggests a Dillian Whyte win on points in a controlled fight but you can never rule out a KO in heavyweight boxing and with the bigger odds I’ll be tempted to put my money on a Whyte KO

But……. you can never rule out an upset and a Rivas KO is 7/1 if you want to take a risk!!

Head says Whyte points 1/1

Heart says Whyte KO 6/4

Manny Pacquiao v Keith Thurman

There is no doubt about Keith Thurmans punching power with his 22 KO’s to date, which resulted in him being unified WBA Super & WBC Welterweight champion, and with Manny Pacquiao now 40 years old, Thurman’s power could be the deciding factor but with only one fight in the last 2 years due to injuries, does he still possess that ability to produce a KO at the very top level?

Like many times before, Manny has proved he is far from finished, he still has some of that blistering handspeed and has still been competing at the top level, holding the WBA regular Welterweight title.

If ‘One Time’ still has that power then he is great value for the KO but if that power has deterioted and ‘Pacman’ still has plenty left in the tank then the smart money goes on a Manny points win

Head says Thurman KO 9/2

Heart says Pacquiao points 11/8
