Golden Contract Finals -The SimBoxx Preview

What a treat, Wednesday night, end of lockdown and start of Christmas, Jazza Dickens and Ryan Walsh finally get in the ring together to fight for the Golden Contract. Originally scheduled for 30th September 2020 before Jazza Dickens’ trainer Derry Matthews tested positive for COVID19 just the day before the bout was to take place.

Serge Michel (11-1-0) vs Ricards Bolotniks (17-5-1)

The Co-Main Event sees German contender Serge Michel take on Latvian Ricards Bolotniks for the WBO European Light Heavyweight Title.

Michel earnt his European Title shot by defeating Liam Conroy via TKO in the 4th round on the undercard of Ohara Davies’ Golden Contract win over Tyrone McKenna in September this year.

Latvian Ricards Bolotnik’s ability is much better than his record suggest, coming off the back of stopping Steven Ward and beating fellow Brit Hosea Burton respectively Bolotnik is a man in form. Since his drop down in weight from Cruiser, Bolotnik is on a 6 fight winning streak.

Prediction: I believe records are deceiving in this matchup because this is a real 50/50. I think Ricards Bolotnik will win a points decision, with a possible late stoppage.

Jazza Dickens (29-3-0) vs Ryan Walsh (29-2-2)

This will be fun. Scouser, Jazza Dickens takes on Ryan Walsh for the WBO European Featherweight Title but more importantly the second ever MTK Global ‘Golden Contract’.

Southpaw Scouser, Jazza Dickens comes into the bout after beating betting favourite Leigh Wood with a terrific 10 round display. After back to back defeats to Rigondeaux and Thomas Patrick Ward back in 2016 and 2017, a lot of people wrote Jazza off but the tough, classy southpaw has since gone on a 7 fight winning streak, earning his shot at the European Title and the inaugural Featherweight Golden Contract.

Since his draw with Isaac Lowe, Ryan Walsh has been flying. Off the back of the draw he went on to win the British Title with an outstanding performance against Reece Bellotti before taking the unbeaten records of Lee Paulin, Cuban Hairon Socarras and Tyrone McCullagh last time out in the semi-final of the Golden Contract in a 10 round clinic.

Prediction: As much as I like Jazza Dickens, both as a boxer but more importantly as a man, I have to edge for Ryan Walsh. It will be a real 50/50 with both men in fine form, I just believe Ryan Walsh will be able to implement his game plan quicker and nullify Jazza.
