Mexi superstar & unified WBA, WBC, Ring Magazine super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez takes on undefeated, WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders of Great Britain in Dallas, Texas.
The fascinating clash of styles has got the boxing world talking & here we have some Pro Predictions for the big fight....

Rooting for Billy Joe all the way, really hope he does it but I think he’s going to be fast and elusive quick on his feet winning the early rounds but will start to slow as Canelo starts getting to him and then I think Canelo gets the stoppage.

I’m going with a Canelo stoppage in the second half of the fight, depending on what approach BJS takes he might see the final bell but losing the majority of the rounds. A few years ago I would have backed Billy for the upset but I just think Alvarez has taken things to a completely different level over the past few years and Saunders has been a bit stop and start whilst Canelo has consistently been competing at world level fight after fight. I hope I’m wrong but I can’t see past a Canelo win.
Brian Rose
I’m going for a Saunders win on points, if he uses his feet the way he can & is as fit as he looks he’ll win the fight. It’s a tough ask & the odds are against him but I think he wins on points. He’s ruffled Canelo‘s feathers with the ring argument, Canelo hasn’t had someone do that & is it getting to him?
Sion Yaxley
I think Saunders will try and fiddle Canelo about and have a bit of success doing so in the first few rounds, being on his toes boxing at distance in and out, but I can only see Canelo figuring Saunders out and slowly start breaking him down as the fight goes on, forcing a late stoppage. I hope Saunders proves me wrong as it’d be good for a Brit to dethrone the p4p king, but I just can’t see it.
John Hedges
I see it being a very close fight between 2 of the best the world have seen , Billy Joe’s boxing brain being second to none and causing Canelo problems. Very close with Billy Joe winning. Canelo struggles with southpaws and doesn’t like fighters he’s own height so it’ll work in Bill’s favour, I just hope it’s fair with judges scorecards.
Caoimhin Agyarko
I think BJS wins on points, he’s in great shape. Being a part of his camp seeing first hand how well he’s prepared and how mentally ready he is, I think he can pull of an upset.
Canelo v Billy Joe Saunders goes down May 8th at the AT&T stadium in Dallas, Texas. Broadcast live around the world on DAZN.
